Eddie Van Halen died two years ago today at the age of 65 after a long battle with cancer . I’m beyond heartbroken. One of my first five rock heroes. KISS, Cheap Trick, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, AC/DC.

Thank you gentlemen for giving me the greatest joy of my life. Hard rock and heavy metal music. I feel blessed to have lived, loved, and now…

Well, you know. Thank you Eddie for the absolutely genre defining, music bending, life-changing, world changing, brilliance of your hard work and talent. Thank you so much for sharing your love of music and incredible talent with all of us.

You were destined for greatness and you made it happen man.

Love you. Love your music. May you rest in peace and power.

Two years later I’m going to be cranking more Van Halen and then listening to Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk as he pays tribute to King Edward. If you’re so inclined we’d all love to have you join us to discuss Eddie Van Halen’s five greatest riffs. 3-5pm EST or anytime on the Sirius XM app.
