HALESTORM – THE STRANGE CASE OF…(REVIEW)

Hard, fast, heavy rock and roll led by a smokin’ hot lead singer with a bad attitude. Sounds like a match made in rock and roll heaven. It is.

From the opening beats from Arejay Hale’s acrobatic drumming to the crunchy guitars and rock solid repertoire of voices Lzzy Hale can call upon this album just plain rocks.

Track one gets the album off to a killer start. “Love Bites(So Do I),” is simply the best rock song of 2012.

The music stays strong throughout and track two, “Mz. Hyde,” is another fantastic rock song.

“I Miss the Misery,” and “Freak Like Me,” continue the theme of great rock songs on a truly great rock album. Make sure you keep the volume up!

Although things lighten up a bit for the next few tracks as far as the music the lyrics are still rock and roll nirvana as they do what all great rock music does: speak to the outsiders, the freaks, the lonely, the rebels. You know who you are. We all know and it’s OK. You are not alone.

“Beautiful with You,” In Your Room,” and “Break In,” are wonderful rock ballads that move and inspire. Thank you Lzzy and boys.

“Rock Show,” harkens back to hard rock classics “Rock and Roll Fantasy,” from BAD COMPANY and “Jukebox Hero,” from FOREIGNER. Love it!

The albums closing tracks are just as strong as the rest of A STRANGE CASE OF…

“Daughters of Darkness,” is a rallying cry for the sisters of rock and roll, while “You Call Me a Bitch Like It’s a Bad Thing,” is pure fun, boasts the heaviest riff on the album and it kills!

The next to last track “American Boys,” features a riff that is reminiscent of Lynyrd Skynyrd and a screech from Lzzy Hale that reaches toward the Metal God Rob Halford stratosphere.

The final cut is “Here’s to Us,”  a great drinking song for closing your favorite bar.

HALESTORM’S The Strange Case of…is one of the truly great hard rock albums to come out in 2012. It’s time you discovered them for yourself.
