HOT AND HEAVY SEBASTIAN BACH TUNE. KISS: “NOTHIN’ TO LOSE,” EARLY YEARS BOOK. NEW SLASH SOLO ALBUM.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, KISS founders Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are collaborating with rock journalist Ken Sharp on “Nothin’ To Lose”, an oral history of the band’s early years, from its inception in 1973 to the 1975 release of its classic concert album “Alive!” Due in the summer of 2012 via IT Books, an imprint of HarperCollins, the book will include never-before-published photographs along interviews with original KISS drummer Peter Criss and guitarist Ace Frehley, as well as other ’70s rock musicians and behind-the-scenes players.
IT Books editor Denise Oswald told The Hollywood Reporter about the project. “KISS is one of the most beloved and influential hard rock bands of the last forty years. What is particularly fascinating about this project is about how the band got off the ground, how they came up with the concept of who they were that so defined them and captured the love and imagination of all of their fans. . . [The book is] also an amazing depiction of New York in the early Seventies — it’s Manhattan, it’s Queens, you have members of the RAMONES, members of BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, touring with and playing with KISS. You really get this incredible portrait of a time.”
Legendary guitarist Slash (VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N’ ROSES) writes on his Twitter page that he has just started the “second round of pre-production” on his new solo album. “It’s going to be a rockin’ fn’ record,” the axeman says.
In a May 2011 interview with Planet Rock, Slash revealed that his new solo album will be released next spring.
Although ALTER BRIDGE vocalist Myles Kennedy sang just two tracks on Slash‘s self-titled solo debut, Slash recently confirmed that Myles will sing everything on the guitarist’s next solo effort.
Speaking to Nicky Horne, he revealed, “Myles and I have been writing all throughout the tour so we’ve got a lot of material, and at this point we’re probably gonna start a little bit of pre-production in June and then do the tour in July. In September we’re going to [do more] pre-production and the album is slated to come out in March or April.”
In an interview with The Pulse Of Radio, Kennedy said about the fact that Slash would like him to handle the lead vocals on the guitarist’s next CD, “It’s very flattering. I think there’s kind of a cool thing we got going. We really enjoy working with each other.”
Slash‘s debut disc came out last year and featured a different singer on each track, including Chris Cornell, Ozzy Osbourne, M. Shadows and others.
Slash‘s “homecoming” gig on July 24 at the Victoria Hall in the British town of Stoke-On-Trent, where he was raised until he was five, was filmed for a DVD release, tentatively due in October.
Here is a fantastic track from the first SLASH solo disc featuring Myles Kennedy on vocals. Let’s hope this is just a sign of things to come!

“Kicking & Screaming”, the first video and title track from former SKID ROW frontman Sebastian Bach‘s forthcoming album, can be seen at RevolverMag.com. According to a press release, the clip — which is one of two videos that the singer filmed on June 28 in Hollywood, California with director Devin DeHaven of Fortress Entertainment (PAPA ROACH, WHITESNAKE, METHOD MAN, TALIB KWELI) — shows Bach “in fine form highlighting his inimitable vocal prowess, as well as the bone-crunching riffs and catchy hooks of the single.”
Commented Sebastian: “I could not be happier with the video for ‘Kicking & Screaming’. Director Devin DeHaven did a great job and this video has a lot of energy and power, just like the song. Plus, this video is FUN! Just what rock ‘n’ roll is about.”
“Kicking & Screaming” will be released on September 27 via Frontiers Records. The CD was produced by Bob Marlette (BLACK SABBATH, SHINEDOWN, ATREYU, FILTER) and features young virtuosic guitarist Nick Sterling and drum pro Bobby Jarzombek (HALFORD, RIOT, ICED EARTH). The follow-up to 2007’s “Angel Down” was mastered at Precision Mastering in Los Angeles with Tom Baker. A digital single containing the album’s title track will precede the full-length effort on August 23.

Sebastian previously stated that the “Kicking & Screaming” cover would feature “the hottest model in the land” — presumably referring to his new girlfriend, 25-year-old model Minnie Gupta — “and reflect the lyrics as well as the brutality of the music. It’s gonna be rock ‘n’ roll to the 9th degree — very heavy, cool, trippy and nightmare-ish.”
Bach stated about his new solo material, “This CD will follow along the lines of ‘Skid Row’, ‘Slave To The Grind’, ‘Subhuman Race’ and ‘Angel Down’. If you like rockin’ guitar riffs, high-energy songs and performances, deadly drums of doom, and ear-shattering screams, we got your rock right here!” He also described the songs as “heavy, interesting, classic sounding, modern sounding, completely rock ‘n’ roll — just how we like it!”
