VIDEOS FROM LAST NIGHT’S AMERICAN IDOL FEATURING STEVEN TYLER, STP, AND JUDAS PRIEST. TWO FREE DOWNLOADS FROM IRON MAIDEN’S NEW “FROM FEAR TO ETERNITY.” NIKKI SIXX SAYS SULLY ERNA SEEMS TO BE “CRYIN’ LIKE A BITCH.”

Robert and Dean DeLeo of STONE TEMPLE PILOTS joined AEROSMITH frontman and “American Idol” judge Steven Tyler on stage during last night’s (Wednesday, May 25) season 10 “Idol” finale to perform the AEROSMITH classic “Dream On”. You can watch video footage of their appearance below.
Despite Tyler‘s recent insistence that AEROSMITHwould play the “American Idol” finale, AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry said in a recent online posting that the band was “never asked by producers” to perform at the event.
He added that “Brad [WhitfordAEROSMITH guitarist] has a gig that night with [Experience Hendrix]. It’s not logistically possible.”Perry did write that AEROSMITH is “looking forward to playing ‘American Idol’ next season when our new CD is out and we can prepare [for] a kick-ass show if they ask us.”
British heavy metal legends JUDAS PRIEST performed during last night’s (Wednesday, May 25) season 10 “American Idol” finale.
They hit the stage with James Durbin, the 22-year-old rocker from Santa Cruz, California, who was eliminated from “American Idol”earlier in the month but who made a return appearance during tonight’s broadcast. PRIEST and Durbinperformed the band’s classic songs “Living After Midnight” and “Breaking The Law”.JUDAS PRIEST‘s appearance on “American Idol” marked the band’s first performance with the group’s latest addition, 31-year-old guitarist Richie Faulkner (LAUREN HARRISDIRTY DEEDS).
Durbin sang the JUDAS PRIEST classic “You Got Another Thing Coming” on the March 1 edition of “Idol”. His rendition marked the first time, according to AEROSMITH singer and “American Idol” judge Steven Tyler, where a JUDAS PRIEST single was performed on the “Idol” stage.
JUDAS PRIEST will launch the U.S. leg of its farewell world tour on October 12 in San Antonio and the band promises that it will go out with a bang. Singer Rob Halford said, “We’re pulling out all the stops. We’ve built a brand new stage set, we’ve got all the effects that people love us for —the lasers, the fire, the bombs, the smoke, new costumes, and the bike. It’s just a full-on metal extravaganza.”
Guitarist Glenn Tipton added that the group will play something from each of its albums, including a few numbers that have never been performed live before. As for whether this is really the end of JUDAS PRIEST‘s touring days, Tipton added, “If somebody came along and said, ‘Would you do a small string of dates,’ we wouldn’t automatically say no to that. But in general, this is probably the last chance you’ll get to see PRIEST live.”

EMI has set a June 6 release date for “From Fear To Eternity: The Best Of 1990-2010”. A double-CD set spanning twenty years this follows the huge success of 2010’s studio album“The Final Frontier” which hit the number one spot in 28 countries around the world. It also became the band’s highest-charting album in the USA where IRON MAIDEN have just been awarded their first Grammy for “Best Metal Performance”, for the song “El Dorado”, taken from “The Final Frontier”album, and which is included in this selection.

A special two-track promo-only CD single is being made available featuring “The Wicker Man”, which originally appeared on the album “Brave New World”, released in 2000, and was a U.K. Top Ten hit, and “The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg”, which was the lead track from
2006’s “A Matter Of Life And Death” album.

Both tracks are now available for free download until June 22 at this location.
(Note: Access to the site appears to be limited only to U.K. residents.)

IRON MAIDEN‘s current phenomenal global success has seen the band not only scale new-found heights aided by their unique method of touring, using a customized Boeing 757 — named Ed Force One by their fans — to transport band, crew and all their equipment round the world to many new places, but has meant their ever-expanding fanbase now encompasses a brand new generation of metal lovers.

“From Fear To Eternity” is a chance for these new fans of the band to explore IRON MAIDEN‘s rich history, with the highlights of their last eight studio albums distilled into this handy collection, which follows 2009’s compilation of their earlier work, the 1980-1990 “Somewhere Back In Time” album.

Perennial favourites to be found on this album include songs also featured in MAIDEN‘s current “The Final Frontier World Tour” set list; tracks such as “Fear Of The Dark”“The Wicker Man”“Blood Brothers” and “Dance Of Death” sit alongside recent classics “El Dorado” and the hauntingly evocative “When The Wild Wind Blows”.

It also include singles like “Holy Smoke” and “Be Quick Or Be Dead” together with more progressive thought-provoking album tracks like “Afraid To Shoot Strangers” and “For The Greater Good Of God”. This new collection charts the musical development of Britain’s most successful metal band as they have evolved their sound, producing longer, more complex songs, gaining huge critical acclaim in the process. Featuring many of the epics for which the band has become renowned, it is accordingly released as a double CD, but will retail for the price of a single album.

MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx has once again commented on the reports that GODSMACK‘s “Cryin’ Like A Bitch” single was written
as a slam on Sixx after the two bands apparently clashed during the Crüe Fest 2 tour.

In a posting on his Facebook pageSixx responded to a question from a fan in which Nikki was asked “what happened [between] you and Sully.”

“Every person — from road crew, fans and even all the bands on the tour (including [Sully‘s] band) — was so happy, but [Erna] just seems to be crying like a bitch,” Sixx replied.

“Funny, even his manager told me he’s an asshole… Maybe the problem is just in HIS head… I got no problem with him.”

GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna admitted in a webisode for the band’s fifth studio album, “The Oracle”, that “Cryin’ Like A Bitch” was inspired by events of Crüe Fest 2, on whichGODSMACK was billed below headliners MÖTLEY CRÜESully told Artisan News Service at the time, “There’s definitely been some rock-star garbage on this tour that we just have never seen in our career . . . this was the first time that I felt like, ‘You know what?! If there’s gonna be some people that are gonna treat other people a certain way, then I’m gonna go out there every night and . . . make sure that we make you look old and fat, and go home with a nice big fat paycheck.”

Samples of some of the lyrics on “Cryin’ Like A Bitch” include lines like: “Strut on by like a king/Telling everybody they know nothing/Long lived what you thought you were/Time ain’t on your side anymore”

“Cryin’ Like A Bitch” lyrics:

Strut on by like a king
Telling everybody they know
nothing
Long lived what you thought you were
Time ain’t on your side anymore

And so you tell me I can’t take my chances
But I’ve told you one too many times
And you were cryin’ like a bitch

I’m tougher than nails, I can promise you that
Step outta line and you’ll get bitch-slapped back
And you can run your little mouth all day
But the hand of god just smacked you back into yesterday

And so you tell me I can’t take my chances
But I’ve told you one too many times
And you were cryin’ like a bitch
And you wonder why no one can stand you
There’s no denying you were
cryin’ like a bitch

Blinded by your sacred faded past times, only time is your enemy
Granted a second chance to prove that your arrogance is

Stronger than you’ll ever be… it’s stronger than you can be [/End of lyrics]
