NEW DEFTONES ALBUM, REVOLVER’S HOTTEST CHICKS IN HARD ROCK, AND NEW STONE SOUR LYRIC VIDEO!

Sacramento, California-based alternative rock band DEFTONES has set a November 13 release date for its seventh studio album, entitled “Koi No Yokan”. The group worked again with producer Nick Raskulinecz, who helmed 2010’s “Diamond Eyes” and has also worked on albums by RUSH and FOO FIGHTERS.

“Koi no yokan” is Japanese for a feeling that is similar to (but not exactly the same as) love at first sight. It’s the sense a person gets upon meeting someone, where they just “know” they are going to fall in love. It implies that future love is inevitable.

To support the CD, DEFTONES will hit the road on a nationwide headlining tour, with special guest SCARS ON BROADWAY, which kicks off October 9 in Ventura, California and concludes on the West Coast mid-November. Tickets on sale next Friday, September 7 via Ticketmaster.com.
The dates are as follows:

Oct. 09 – Ventura, CA – Ventura Theatre Oct. 10 – San Francisco, CA – Warfield Oct. 12 – Portland, OR – Roseland Ballroom Oct. 13 – Seattle, WA – Showbox SODO Oct. 14 – Vancouver, BC – Commodore Oct. 16 – Boise, ID – Knitting Factory Oct. 17 – Salt Lake City, UT – In The Venue Oct. 19 – Denver, CO – Fillmore Auditorium Oct. 20 – Kansas City, MO – Harrah’s Oct. 21 – Columbia, MO – Blue Note Oct. 23 – Chicago, IL – Aragon Ballroom Oct. 24 – Royal Oak, MI – Royal Oak Music Theatre Oct. 26 – Baltimore, MD – Rams Head Live Oct. 28 – Philadelphia, PA – The Electric Factory Oct. 29 – Boston, MA – HOB Boston Oct. 30 – New York, NY – Terminal 5

DEFTONES debuted two new songs — “Roller Derby” and “Rosemary” — during a July 28 concert West Hollywood, California.
Speaking to QMI Agency, DEFTONES< singer Chno Moreno said that the two tracks are not necesasarily the best indication of what fans can expect to hear on the upcoming effort.

“I don’t think those songs are the ones that best represent our record,” he said. “They’re two different songs, one is a lot more ambient [‘Rosemary’] than the other [‘Roller Derby’], the other is a lot more aggressive. But they’re cool, they balance each other out. The songs already sounded great live before we recorded them. When we wrote the record we pretty much wrote it live.”

The group also intends to continue their tradition of recording several cover tunes that could end up as B-sides, with Moreno revealing that they’ve been toying with songs from ELVIS PRESLEY and EARTH, WIND & FIRE, among others.

“The fun stuff is playing somebody else’s song and recording it,” he said. “We’re always open to new stuff. It’s fun for us to do something that’s out of our element and something you wouldn’t expect from a heavier type of rock band. So hopefully it will be something that’s a little off the cuff and left of center.”

According to The Pulse Of Radio, HALESTORM singer Lzzy Hale has been named the “Hottest Chick In Hard Rock” in Revolver magazine’s annual round-up of the sexiest female rockers. Hale tops a list of 25 women that includes current tourmate and EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee at No. 2, “Gossip Girl” star Taylor Momsen at No. 3, IN THIS MOMENT‘s Maria Brink at No. 6 and many others. The poll appears in the magazine’s new issue, on sale next Tuesday (September 4).

Hale says she’s pleased to top the survey and gave us her perspective on it. “My view of it really is to make sure that you’re good at what you do, and so that when people actually want to look beyond the centerfold [laughs, that you’re actually good and you have something to back it up,” she says. “I think that most of us are really trying to push the envelope and, you know, make sure that we’re musicians first and that the sex is just kind of the icing on the cake.”

HALESTORM and EVANESCENCE are currently touring together on the “Carnival Of Madness” trek, which next stops in Clifton Park, New York on Friday (August 31).

Lee has been joining Hale onstage during numerous dates on the tour to perform the HALESTORM track “Break In”.
EVANESCENCE is touring behind its self-titled third album, while HALESTORM is out in support of its sophomore effort, “The Strange Case Of…”

STONE SOUR‘s official lyric video for the songs “Gone Sovereign” and “Absolute Zero” can be seen below. Both tracks are taken from “House Of Gold And Bones – Part 1”, the first half of STONE SOUR‘s upcoming two-disc concept album. The first CD arrives on October 23, while the second half will come out next year, probably in May. Singer Corey Taylor told The Pulse Of Radio that the project has turned out even better than he had hoped. “It’s some of the best work we’ve ever done,” he said. “Song-wise, guitar-wise, performance-wise, I mean, everything. It’s so good. It’s come out so much better than I thought it was going to. It’s surpassed all of our expectations. It’s really, really good.”

STONE SOUR will shoot a video for “Gone Sovereign” and “Absolute Zero” during the coming weeks. Taylor tweeted, “There will be a fan casting call… once we figure out where we’re going to film it. [It will be] a performance [clip] with 1-2,000 fans. [It’s] gonna be sick as fuck.”
Speaking to Rolling Stone about the making of the project, Taylor said, “Even with the time constraints we had, we basically recorded two albums in the time it takes to record one. So we were doing double-duty every day. I was tracking two songs vocally a day just to keep us on a deadline and it really pushed us to strive for excellence.”

The singer also said that the band wanted to “really try and go for (a) natural vibe on this without using a ton of samples and really try to differentiate us from everybody else out there . . . we wanted to really capture a unique sound.”

“House Of Gold And Bones will follow up the band’s third album, 2010’s “Audio Secrecy”.

Taylor and STONE SOUR guitarist Jim Root just got off the road with their other band, SLIPKNOT, but will tour with STONE SOUR later this year.
