EDDIE VAN HALEN EMERGENCY SURGERY LEADS TO CANCELLATION OF TOUR

Guitar great Eddie Van Halen is resting after recently undergoing emergency surgery. The Van Halen co-founder had been suffering significant pain as of late that came about as a result of Diverticulitis.

For those not in the know, Diverticulitis is a condition that occurs when pouches form in the wall of the colon and get inflamed or infected. Symptoms can included stomach pain, fever and chills, bloating, gas, nausea and loss of appetite.

According to Van Halen’s official Facebook page, the guitarist underwent surgery to alleviate the pain. A statement on the subject reads:

Eddie Van Halen underwent an emergency surgery for a severe bout of Diverticulitis. No further surgeries are needed and a full recovery is expected within 4 – 6 months.

Van Halen’s scheduled November 2012 tour of Japan is currently being rescheduled and the band looks forward to seeing and playing for their fans in 2013.

Though their touring has been successful, there have been a few bumps in the road. Earlier this year, the group postponed dates amidst rumors of infighting. However, David Lee Roth later stated that it was a case of the group overbooking themselves and needing a break before continuing. Unfortunately, those postponed shows would eventually be canceled.
