TRIPLE SHOT O’ LEGENDS NEWS (KISS, ANTHRAX, DIMEBAG)

KISS has partnered up with Archie Comics to launch a new, four-part story called “Archie Meets Kiss”. The comic will follow Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and their band as they protect the comic’s regulars from an invasion of monsters. Gene says that the illustrations will not offend the young fanbase that the comic has.

Stanley and Simmons will hold a signing session at Golden Apple Comics in Los Angeles to celebrate the release of “Archie Meets Kiss”. The event will take place on Wednesday, November 30. Wristbands will be available at 10 a.m. with the purchase of the comic book. The event is limited to 100 fans and two items per person.

Simmons told the New York Post, “KISS is all things to all people. A five or 10-year-old fan doesn’t look at the lascivating nature of my tongue the same way someone much older would — such a thing is not obvious to a five-year-old, and nor should it be.”

The series launches November 30 and, in the words of writer Alex Segura of Archie Comics, “brings together two pieces of Americana for the first time.”

Jon Goldwater, CEO of Archie Comics, is a self-described “crazy KISS fan, who says, “Younger kids will enjoy the magical nature while older audiences will enjoy old rock ‘n’ roll.”

ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian has revealed via Twitter that the next leg of the band’s U.S. tour will commence the third week of January. More details will be made available soon.

ANTHRAX has just completed a U.S. tour with TESTAMENT and DEATH ANGEL. The trek kicked off on October 14 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and concluded on November 19 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

ANTHRAX‘s new album, “Worship Music”, sold 28,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 12 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band’s previous studio CD, 2003’s “We’ve Come For You All”, opened with just under 10,000 units to debut at No. 122.

The CD cover artwork for “Worship Music” was handled by renowned comic book artist Alex Ross, who has worked with Marvel Comics and DC Comics and is known for his “Marvels”, “Kingdom Come”, and “Astro City” illustrations. Ross also did the original artwork for ANTHRAX‘s “We’ve Come For You All” and “Music Of Mass Destruction” albums.

“Worship Music” was produced by ANTHRAX, Rob Caggiano and Jay Ruston and recorded over a four-year period at studios in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Singer Joey Belladonna‘s return to the band prompted some of the songs originally recorded with previous singer Dan Nelson to be re-crafted with fresh lyrics or tweaked to better suit his overall vibe and energy. Some of the songs were completely replaced with brand-new songs and, of course, all have Belladonna‘s inimitable vocal stamp on them.

On Saturday, March 31, 2012, family, friends and fans will honor Darrell Lance Abbott, better known to most as Dimebag Darrell or simply Dime, while benefiting abused, abandoned and neglected children from the Tampa Bay area.

Dime, known for his work with the iconic metal band PANTERA, was tragically taken from those that loved him on December 8, 2004. Each year since, and all across the country, memorial motorcycle rides have been organized in Dime‘s memory while raising awareness and funding for children charities.

Tampa Bay will be the host of “Ride For Dime – Florida” with the memorial ride beginning at Dean Guitars headquarters with registration opening at 10:00 a.m. and registrants treated to entertainment and VIP tours of the Dean factory. The memorial Ride will end at Brandon Harley-Davidson where all guests will enjoy the musical talents of local artists and a special appearance from the national Ride For Dime president Rob Eichelberger.

“We are very excited about expanding our rides to Florida and at the same time helping abused children,” said Rob. “We are honored to have the Ride For Dime organization select our charity for their support and introducing our mission to more giving individuals and organizations like Dean Guitars,” stated Wayne Witczak, executive director/CEO for Kids Charity Of Tampa Bay, Inc.

Following the concert at Brandon Harley-Davidson, the party will continue at the legendary Hard Rock Café where the family, friends and fans will rock the night away honoring the life of Dime while being treated to a special video presentation from Dime‘s brother Vinnie Paul, currently of the band HELLYEAH.

“The ride does my brother proud and I appreciate it taking place in his memory,” says Vinnie Paul. “Unfortunately, Vinnie‘s tour schedule prevents his attending, but he is behind the expansion into Florida 100%,” says Eichelberger.

Attendees will donate $20 to participate in the memorial ride and/or attend the outdoor concert. Additionally, there will be a live/silent auction and a special raffles to raise additional funds for the charity.

Kids Charity Of Tampa Bay, Inc. is a non-profit organization of concerned individuals whose mission is to improve the quality of life for foster children and foster families. Community initiatives of Kids Charity Of Tampa Bay include; A Kid’s Place, a residential care facility for abandoned, abused and neglected children, holiday gift drives for foster children and families, back-to-school drives for foster children throughout the Tampa Bay area and the Safety Net program, providing emergency support for foster families in crisis.
