According to WSOCTV.com, a federal investigation is underway after pictures surfaced of MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee and POISON singer Bret Michaels firing guns in Rowan County, North Carolina.

Lee and Michaels, along with several law enforcement officers, were photographed with firearms at the Rowan County Peace Officers Association.

Sheriff Kevin Auten told WSOCTV.com the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) is investigating to check the men’s criminal backgrounds and learn more about the weapons.

According to the North Carolina’s Felony Firearms Act, it is against the law “for any person who has been convicted of a felony to purchase, own, possess, or have in his custody, care, or control any firearm.”

MÖTLEY CRÜE‘s current headlining trek with support from POISON and special guests NEW YORK DOLLS kicked off on June 7 at Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas, Texas and will hit approximately more than 40 cities before coming to a close in August.
